Rahadin
Source characterization: RAW module, Dragnacarta, expanded
Role: Strahd’s Chamberlain and primary agent
Key characterization principles:
- Confirmed as canon within the ideation sessions (though still unconfirmed at the table): has sacrificed the Dusk Elves for some purpose — whether for the Dark Powers or his own ends is undetermined.
- Floated, explicitly NOT canonized even at the GM level: that Rahadin struck a deal with the Dark Powers to resurrect Strahd each time he dies. Chris likes it as a possible throughline but both GMs agreed to leave it open rather than lock it in.
- Called the hit on Erasmus (already established elsewhere in this bible under Dismas’s key relationships) — unknown to Dismas.
- Cousin of Casimir Velikov, leader of the Dusk Elves, and uncle by extension to the late Dusk Elf prince (see Casimir’s entry below).
- [IDEA — NONCANONICAL] 2026-09-19: Rahadin is part of Strahd’s inner trio (with Strahd and Ludmilla) who know the real Lake Zarovich plan. Not being a vampire, he is the one who can lead the dive to kill the Winter Worm and retrieve the Heart of Darkness, with undead helpers, the party (if they accept Strahd’s offer) or werewolves (if not), and a contingency teleport. Strahd trusting him with this is meant as an on-screen show of Rahadin’s loyalty. See Strahd’s Machination: Poisoning the Winter Worm and Strahd’s Offer to the Party, the Bones of Saint Andral & the Brides.
Current narrative status: Already met by the party — informed Ismark of Kolyan’s death and his own ascension to “new Burgomaster” (Session 5).
